Religion vs Science: age of the earth?

How come religious book such as the bible, when estimating the age of the earth we get about 6000-10000 years old, looking at Luke 3:23-28 and knowing Jesus(supposedly) live 2000 years ago; but when we use the decay of elements such as Carbon, Rubidium, Uranium, Thorium, Lutetium, Lead, Samarium, Argon and others we get 4.5 billion years old?
